Bumblebees are more than just fuzzy visitors in your garden-they’re powerful pollinators that help grow the food we eat and keep ecosystems healthy. But sadly, many bumblebee species are disappearing due to habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
Luckily, you can be part of the solution. Here’s how:

Plant Native Flowers
Bumblebees love variety! Grow native wildflowers, herbs, and flowering trees that bloom from early spring to late fall. Even a small balcony garden can feed a bee.
Skip the Sprays
Pesticides, especially neonicotinoids, are harmful to bees. Choose organic gardening methods or bee-safe alternatives. Let your garden be a little wild-it’s better for bees!
Leave Some Mess
Bumblebees often nest in the ground or under piles of leaves and grass. Leaving a corner of your yard undisturbed can give them a safe place to live.
Be a Bee Spotter
Join citizen science projects like indexing Bumblebees with the Xerces Society. By snapping a photo of a bee and sharing it, you help scientists track and protect endangered species.
Spread the Buzz
Teach your friends, classmates, or family members about why bumblebees matter. Every conversation counts.
Saving bumblebees doesn’t require a science degree-just curiosity, care, and a few small changes. Together, we can make a world where bees (and people) thrive.
Bee kind. Bee curious. Bee a helper.
